Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday: thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.
This is my favorite time of the year. God paints the world with every color. He does that in the Spring as well but there is something about this time of the year that causes reflection. The season itself is preparing nature for death. A kind of death that will eventually lead to new life. This is the one thing we can count on in life, God’s eternal purpose in everything that happens. The death of leaves on the tree allows for new ones to grow in the Spring. A time of rest from the process giving. Did you ever think of that? Trees give their fruit all year long, leaves, apples perhaps or oranges and then in the winter they rest. We all need this time! And Fall is my time!
For me it is a time of looking back and taking account of what He has done in my life this past year. To make my "Thanksgiving" list and praise Him for all He has done. Good or bad. With that praise fresh on my tongue, looking forward to the celebration of the birth of God’s Son, the one who gave His life for me. And you! It is also the season that I celebrate my birth, my passing from one age to the next. Perhaps it is His purpose also, for our marking this turning, to cause us to pause and reflect. While this has caused me some fret these past few years, I am starting to see it as the rite of passage…wisdom (my goodness, I hope) thus the glasses on my clock in the upper left hand corner of my space. LOL!
